Ernie Francis Jr., Goes from Back of Pack to Top of Podium at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Ernie Francis Jr. takes first in TA class in The Pirelli Trans Am Series fourth round; remains on top of points lead in TA class
Katech driver Ernie Francis Jr., won his third race of the 2018 Trans Am Championship presented by Pirelli this past weekend in the Berryman Trans American at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This was Francis’ second consecutive victory and third of the season.
Francis started the weekend with a second place finish in his first NASCAR K&N Series race and then flew to Indianapolis for the Trans Am Series fourth round. Since he was unable to qualify for the Berryman Trans American, he started in the back of the field in position 16 for the 100-mile race. Driving his Breathless Racing Ford TA Mustang, Francis finished with a 40-second lead over the second place finisher and how has a solid points lead with three total victories on the young season.
Katech driver Scott Lagasse Jr. of SLR/Fields Racing Team took second place in the TA2 class at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in his M-1 Fastrack, SCREEN YOUR MACHINE™ Camaro.
The next Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli event is Pitt Race at Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pa. on August 3-5, 2018.
