Ernie Francis Jr. takes first in TA, Coleman Motorsports takes first and second in TA2, and Breathless Racing finishes third in TA3
Katech-powered racecars dominated the track at the South Florida Sportscar Challenge at Homestead-Miami on April 15th. Ernie Francis Jr., the 2017 Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli 2017 TA Champion, won his second race of the young season in TA class while Coleman Motorsports drivers Rafa Matos and Jan Heylen finished one and two, respectively, in the TA2 class. Dave Ricci of Breathless racing finished third in TA3 class.
“It’s early, but it’s clear that Katech-powered race teams are prepared for a really strong racing season,” said Kevin Pranger, Director of Motorsports for Katech. “Ernie continues to dominate TA as he looks to repeat as champion in his No. 98 Frameless Shower Doors Ford Mustang, and we almost had a clean sweep in TA2 with Chevrolet Camaros from Coleman and Napoleon Motorsports. We are excited to be involved with Breathless Racing, Coleman and Napoleon, and appreciate the confidence they have in our engines and the Katech motorsports team to keep them on the podium.”
The next Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli event is the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix June 1-3, 2018. Francis Jr. led every lap of the 3-Dimensional Services Motor City 100 in 2017 to win the TA class. Katech-powered cars also finished first and second in the TA2 class.
