The Katech Installation Process
Vehicle Inspection
Each vehicle is inspected before installation begins to identify any existing mechanical concerns that should be addressed before modifying the engine. This initial evaluation helps establish a foundation for the completed performance package.
Baseline Dyno Testing
Baseline chassis dyno testing is performed before modifications to document incoming vehicle performance and establish a reference point for evaluating the completed Stage 3 package.
Cylinder Head Preparation
The LT4 cylinder heads receive Katech CNC porting, a 5-angle competition valve job, valve job blending, and .010-inch deck machining. These modifications are designed to improve airflow through the cylinder heads and support the increased performance demands of the Stage 3 combination. GM Gen V LT4 head gaskets and ARP head bolts are included for engine reassembly.
Camshaft and Valvetrain Installation
The Katech K-Force 2 or LT4 Race camshaft is installed with PSI 1516 valve springs, Katech tool steel intake and exhaust retainers, steel valve spring locators, Katech-spec Johnson lifters, and Trend pushrods measured for proper fitment. These components are selected to support the increased valve lift and operating demands of the upgraded camshaft.
Timing System and VVT Delete Installation
The factory timing configuration is upgraded with the Katech C5R timing chain, timing chain guide, VVT delete gear, stanchion, bolt, and billet front cover. The package also includes the Katech billet AFM delete cover to complete the supporting engine modifications.
Supercharger Porting and Induction Upgrades
The factory LT4 supercharger is upgraded with Katech CNC porting of the supercharger base and snout. These modifications are combined with the Halltech STRZ06 intake, Halltech 103mm coupler, and Katech billet 103mm throttle body to improve airflow through the induction system and support increased horsepower potential.
Supercharger Drive System Installation
