The Katech Installation Process
Vehicle Inspection
Before installation begins, the vehicle is evaluated for mechanical concerns or existing modifications that may affect the package installation and calibration. This initial assessment helps establish a foundation for the completed Stage 2 performance upgrade.
Baseline Dyno Testing
Baseline chassis dyno testing is performed to document the vehicle's incoming performance before modifications. These results provide a reference for evaluating the completed package.
Cylinder Head Machining and Preparation
The LS3 cylinder heads receive Katech CNC runner porting, a competition valve job, and valve job hand blending to improve airflow through the intake and exhaust ports. Cylinder head deck machining and detail service are also included as part of the cylinder head preparation process.
GM LS3 head gaskets and ARP head bolts are used during cylinder head installation to provide the specified sealing and fastening components for the upgraded engine configuration.
Katech LS3 Torquer Camshaft Installation
The factory camshaft is replaced with the Katech LS3 Torquer camshaft, designed to support improved naturally aspirated performance. This camshaft works with the CNC-ported cylinder heads and upgraded induction system to increase the engine's breathing capability and deliver a more aggressive performance character.
Spintron-Validated Valvetrain Installation
