Description

Katech LS3 Torquer Camshaft

LS3 Performance Camshaft Engineering, Backed by Katech's Racing Heritage and Valvetrain Development Experience.

The Katech LS3 Torquer Camshaft brings Katech's engine and valvetrain development experience to LS3 performance builds. Its hydraulic camshaft profile features 224.3°/236.2° duration at .050", .581"/.602" valve lift with a 1.70:1 rocker ratio, and a 113° lobe separation angle.

The supplied dyno test combination produced 531 HP and 480 ft-lbs of torque using an otherwise stock LS3 fitted with the Katech LS3 Torquer Camshaft, WCCH-ported cylinder heads, headers, and calibration. These results represent that specific combination; actual output depends on the completed engine, supporting components, calibration, and testing conditions.

This is a 3-bolt camshaft. Applications originally equipped with a single-bolt camshaft sprocket, such as the 2010 Camaro LS3, require conversion to a compatible 3-bolt sprocket with the correct camshaft position trigger configuration.

Katech's camshaft development draws on decades of racing engine experience and Optron Spin Cell valve motion analysis. Final power, idle quality, driveability, and operating range depend on the complete engine combination.

Supporting Valvetrain

The Katech LS3 Torquer Camshaft should be paired with valvetrain components selected for its profile, valve lift, and intended operating range. The listed valve lifts are based on a 1.70:1 rocker ratio. Contact Katech Technical Sales for valve spring, lifter, pushrod, retainer, and locator recommendations for your specific build.

Fitment

Chevrolet / General Motors: LS3 Engine Applications with a Compatible 3-Bolt Camshaft Sprocket.

Applications originally equipped with a single-bolt sprocket require a compatible 3-bolt conversion. Confirm the sprocket's camshaft position trigger configuration matches the engine and ECU requirements.

Contact Katech Technical Sales to confirm compatibility and supporting component requirements for your specific engine combination before ordering.

Important Installation Notes

  • Camshaft Sprocket: A Compatible 3-Bolt Sprocket Is Required
  • Single-Bolt Conversion: Applications Such as the 2010 Camaro LS3 Require a Sprocket Change
  • Trigger Compatibility: Confirm the Correct Camshaft Position Trigger Configuration for the Engine and ECU
  • Camshaft Timing: Degree the Camshaft and Verify Installed Timing Against the Cam Card, Which Specifies a 113.0° Intake Centerline and 0° Timing Offset
  • Valvetrain Setup: Verify Valve Spring Suitability, Installed Height, Coil Bind Clearance, and Retainer-to-Seal Clearance
  • Piston-to-Valve Clearance: Check Clearance for the Completed Engine Combination
  • Pushrod Length & Lifter Preload: Verify During Installation
  • ECU Calibration: Required
  • Professional Installation: Recommended for Proper Setup and Verification

Why Choose Katech

Katech has been involved in the racing industry since 1977, with engine development experience that includes the Corvette C5-R race program. That heritage informs our approach to performance camshaft and valvetrain development.

Our Optron Spin Cell technology allows Katech engineers to analyze valve motion during operation and evaluate valvetrain control. This development process helps guide camshaft and component combinations with power and durability in mind.

Contact Katech Technical Sales to discuss the Katech LS3 Torquer Camshaft and the supporting components appropriate for your LS3 engine build.
