Description
Katech LS7 / LS3 416ci Touring Camshaft
Excellent Street Manners, Strong Low-to-Mid-Range Performance, and Improved Top-End Power for LS7 and LS3-Based 416ci Builds.
The Katech LS7 / LS3 416ci Touring Camshaft is a hydraulic roller camshaft for LS7 and LS3-based 416ci engine builds. Featuring Katech's revised smooth lobe design, this profile is developed to increase top-end power without sacrificing bottom-end performance compared with the Katech Torquer 110 and Torquer 116 camshafts, while improving driveability.
Designed to fit a stock-bottom-end LS7, the Katech LS7 / LS3 416ci Touring Camshaft features 227°/245° duration at .050", a 116.5° lobe separation angle, and +4.5° camshaft advance. Valve lift is .630"/.630" with a 1.80:1 rocker ratio. Actual valve lift depends on the rocker ratio used in the completed engine.
The stated LS7 powerband is 3,000–7,000 RPM, with very strong low-to-mid-range performance and improved top-end power. Power delivery and operating range in an LS3-based 416ci build depend on the engine configuration and supporting components.
In an ideal LS7 vehicle combination using Katech CNC-ported LS7 cylinder heads, a free-flowing exhaust, an appropriate intake manifold, and supporting calibration, this camshaft has the potential to produce 560+ rear-wheel horsepower. Katech's supplied LS7 performance figures on 93 octane are 660 HP with MSD/103 and 560 RWHP. Actual output depends on the complete engine and vehicle combination and testing conditions.
Katech's LS7 valvetrain development includes Spintron validation to 9,500 RPM with the associated test combination. This validation speed is separate from the stated powerband and does not establish a 9,500 RPM operating limit for a stock-bottom-end LS7 or an LS3-based 416ci build.

Fitment
Chevrolet / General Motors: LS7 and LS3-Based 416ci Engine Builds.
The Katech LS7 / LS3 416ci Touring Camshaft was designed to fit a stock-bottom-end LS7 and is also suitable for appropriately configured LS3-based 416ci builds. Verify piston-to-valve clearance in either application.
Valve Lift: The listed .630"/.630" valve lift is based on a 1.80:1 rocker ratio. Actual valve lift changes with the rocker ratio used.
Contact Katech Technical Sales to confirm supporting valvetrain components for your specific engine combination.
Important Installation Notes
- Piston-to-Valve Clearance: Check During Installation on Both LS7 and LS3-Based 416ci Builds
- Camshaft Timing: Verify Installed Timing Against the Cam Card
- Rocker Ratio: Confirm Actual Valve Lift for the Rocker Ratio Used
- Valvetrain Setup: Verify Valve Spring Suitability, Installed Height, Coil Bind Clearance, and Retainer-to-Seal Clearance
- Pushrod Length & Lifter Preload: Verify During Installation
- RPM Limit: Select for the Complete Engine and Valvetrain Combination; Spintron Validation to 9,500 RPM Does Not Establish a Safe Limit for Every Build
- Supporting Components: Match Cylinder Heads, Intake, Exhaust, and Fuel System Components to the Performance Goal
- ECU Calibration: Match the Calibration to the Camshaft and Supporting Engine Components
- Professional Installation: Recommended for Proper Setup and Verification
Why Choose Katech
Katech has been involved in the racing industry since 1977, with engine development experience that includes the Corvette C5-R race program. That heritage informs our approach to performance camshaft and valvetrain development.
Our Optron Spin Cell technology allows Katech engineers to analyze valve motion during operation and evaluate valvetrain control. This development process helps guide camshaft and component combinations with power and durability in mind.
