Timing Chain Tensioner & Clearance Requirements
The Katech TrackFlow™ LS9 Billet High-Capacity Scavenge Dry Sump Oil Pump features increased scavenge stage capacity and a revised housing profile to support sustained high-load and endurance racing oil control. Due to this design, timing chain damper selection directly affects clearance with the oil pump body.
Approved Tensioner/Damper Configurations
- GM LS7 Timing Chain Damper Kit – GM #12581276
- GM Gen IV LS Timing Chain Tensioner Kit – GM #12626407
The GM Gen IV LS2 Timing Chain Damper Kit (GM #12588670) may be used only if the OE mounting bolts are replaced with shorter fasteners. The factory LS2 damper bolts may extend beyond the damper body and contact the oil pump housing, creating an interference condition.
Katech recommends verifying bolt depth and performing a trial fit during engine mock-up to confirm proper clearance between the tensioner assembly and pump body before final assembly.
